Indigo Futon Cover with Red Line-dyed Stripe Ikat

A very unusual, casual Indigo Futon Cover that is decorated with an unusual “red line stripe” that creates the pattern. It also has a “fuzzy” Ikat shape repeated throughout, on top of the fine-line red stripes.

Probably mid-20th century. Very good condition, with no visible holes or patches. Very deep, dark Indigo, almost a “black” indigo, which means it was dyed over 20 times to produce this color, and then the red stripes were line-dyed separately, before it was woven. Red is a very unusual color to find in an antique Indigo Futon; 49″ wide by 57″ long.

Red Line-dyed Stripe Ikat Futon-gawa, $350. Shipping included within the continental U.S.
