We carry wonderful, reversible Kantha jackets, vests and scarves designed by Mieko Mintz.

“Kantha” are wonderful quilted textiles made from stunning, vintage cotton Sari. Ours are designed by our incredibly talented Japanese designer friend and colleague Mieko, who has spent her whole life in the study and pursuit of beautiful textiles. Mieko takes these traditional Kantha fabrics and layers them together to produce one-of-a-kind jackets, scarves, hats, handbags and jewelery. She spends time in India every year choosing only the finest vintage Sari, looking for vibrant colors and designs, and then remaking them into unique one-of-a-kind jackets. Every Kantha Jacket that Mieko designs is reversible, and they come in a number of different styles. These Jackets are designed and sewn both in New York City and India.

We are now carrying our own exclusive selection of Mieko’s fashions, and will add new ones as they become available. The selections will change every few months. We don’t have a “Cart” system, but we encourage you to call us or email us for more details about each Kantha vest or jacket you like. We are very friendly and love to talk to people, so please don’t hesitate to call for more info about anything that strikes your fancy!

Coming from a fabulous Kimono textile culture, we immediately fell in love with Mieko’s Kantha jackets and accessories. We sold them for years in our store, and developed a very loyal following of “Mieko Fans”, who also fell in love with her vests, jackets and scarves like we did.
